An English Watch Company with Swiss Made Precision

Cartwright Hawes is an English watch company creating Swiss Made timepieces for those who want something more distinctive than the familiar names of mainstream Swiss watchmaking.

Our watches are built on the belief that true quality is about more than appearance alone. It is found in the weight of the case, the integrity of the materials, the precision of the movement and the confidence that every component has been chosen for a reason. By combining British design direction with Swiss manufacturing standards, Cartwright Hawes creates watches with presence, character and lasting substance.

We do not build for mass production. Every Cartwright Hawes model is produced in strictly limited numbers, giving each watch a greater sense of rarity and ownership. For those who wear one, that means knowing they are among a very small number of owners worldwide, with just 600 pieces planned across each model.

That exclusivity is not only about scarcity, but protection. Limited production makes our watches harder to replicate at scale, helping preserve the integrity of each design and the confidence of the people who choose to wear one.

This approach also allows us to remain focused on the details that matter most. Rather than designing for the broadest possible audience, we create watches with a clear identity, combining robust construction, premium materials and purposeful design with the quality and precision expected of Swiss Made watchmaking. The result is a collection defined by restraint, individuality and substance, made for owners who value rarity, engineering and enduring quality over passing trends.

Introdcuing The Commander

Introducing the Commander, the first signature tool watch from Cartwright Hawes.

Built in 904L stainless steel and fitted with a ceramic bezel and dial, the Commander sits beneath a double-domed sapphire crystal and is secured by a solid stainless steel case back. With a helium escape valve and water resistance to 300 metres, it has been engineered as a serious diver’s watch, designed for use in the water rather than simply inspired by it.

Its oversized bezel lugs and crown have been designed to improve grip and usability, making the Commander easier to operate in demanding conditions and more practical to handle when worn with gloves. Inside, the Commander is powered by a customised high-specification Sellita SW510A movement, finished with a bespoke rotor, blued screws and refined metal detailing that reflects the standard of the watch as a whole.

This is not a diver’s watch designed to disappear beneath a shirt cuff. It is a watch built to deliver presence, capability and mechanical substance in equal measure — a modern tool watch made to be worn, used and relied upon.

Register Your Interest

Because Cartwright Hawes watches are produced in strictly limited numbers, we do not sell through a conventional online store or retail network. Instead, we invite customers to register their interest in a model ahead of release.

When a new catalogue or model becomes available, those who have registered their interest are contacted first and offered the opportunity to purchase. Allocations are offered on a first come, first served basis, and if an allocation is declined, it is simply offered to the next person on the list.

This approach is not about creating artificial exclusivity. It is a practical way of managing a small number of watches carefully and fairly, without relying on large-scale online sales or retail distribution. It also allows us to maintain an accurate record of every watch and its original owner, which is important when providing aftercare, administering our complimentary two-year service programme and preserving a clear ownership history for each Cartwright Hawes timepiece.
